Overgeared Hero Hub is an independent, fan-made community site for Overgeared Hero: Merge RPG. This page explains what data the site handles, why, and what your choices are. We collect as little as we can get away with: no account is required to browse, and signing in is only needed to manage your own submissions.
For any question or request about your data, reach out to us on the community Discord server.
What we collect
Run submissions: the runner name you provide, hero, chapter, combat power, optional description and breakdown notes, and the screenshot you upload. Approved submissions are public on the site.
- ✦Technical data: your IP address is used for rate limiting (abuse prevention) and appears in standard server logs. Rate-limit entries expire automatically.
- ✦Likes: liking a run requires signing in with Discord (see below) — we store your Discord id against the run you liked, to prevent duplicate likes and to support liking a run from the Discord bot as well as the site.
- ✦Discord bot: when you use one of our commands, Discord sends us your user id and display name. The id is used transiently for rate limiting (and, if you like a run through the bot, stored the same way as a site like); the display name is only kept if it becomes your runner name on a submission you make.
- ✦Discord sign-in: if you sign in, we receive your Discord id, username, display name, and avatar. We never request your email address, and Discord's access token is used once and discarded, never stored.
Cookies
The site sets one cookie of its own, strictly necessary for the sign-in feature it powers, not used for tracking:
- ✦A session cookie (kept for up to 30 days) when you sign in with Discord.
- ✦Advertising cookies may additionally be set by Google (see Advertising below).
Advertising
The site shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to personalize ads and measure their performance; where required, you will be asked for consent before any such cookies are set. See Google's own privacy policy and their "How Google uses information from sites that use our services" page for details, and use the consent prompt or your browser settings to manage your choices.
Where your data lives
The site is hosted on Amazon Web Services in the EU (Paris region). Submission data is stored in a database hosted by Supabase. Screenshots are stored on AWS and served through a content delivery network. Discord is an independent service with its own privacy policy, we receive data from them only when you use the bot or sign in.
How long we keep things
- ✦Approved runs stay published until you ask for removal or we take them down.
- ✦Rejected submissions and their screenshots are deleted.
- ✦Rate-limit records expire automatically within hours.
- ✦Likes are kept as long as the run they're attached to; the sign-in session lasts up to 30 days.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of data relating to you, including removing a run you submitted or unlinking it from your name. Contact us on the community Discord server and we'll handle it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).
Changes to this policy
If our data practices change (for example, when new features launch), this page will be updated and the date at the top revised.
